Honours system is a symbol of ‘very British corruption’, says Steve Hilton

David Cameron’s resignation honours list symbolises a “serious type of very British corruption”, a former 10 Downing Street adviser has claimed.

Steve Hilton, Mr Cameron’s former strategy guru, has said the recommendations are a symptom of a “corrupt and decaying democracy”.

Mr Cameron prompted a furious Conservative Party row this week after being accused of “devaluing the honours system” by rewarding his No 10 colleagues and his wife Samantha’s stylist in his resignation honours list.
